Mereana Berger

Coordinator

Ko Ngāti Hako, Ko Ngāti Porou o Hauraki, Ko Ngati Paoa ngā iwi. Ko Mereana ahau. I am a coordinator for the Waiheke Marine Project, with a focus on the Mana Whenua projects (or Pipi’s as we call it) and the coordination support for our ropu Nga Uri o Ngāti Pāoa ki Waiheke.

My background is in sales support and administration, and I am currently finishing a BBus Degree through AUT, majoring in Human Resources and Employment Relations.

I have been lucky enough to be able to complete my internship with the project and will be graduating the winter of 2022. I moved back to the island 5 years ago with my partner in order to raise our son (now sons) close to my whanau who have been on the island for long time now. Waiheke was the backdrop to my youth, with countless hours spent on the shores, exploring the rocks, or bathing in the shallows. These memories are precious to me, and are what inspire and encourage everyday in my mahi with the Waiheke Marine Project.
