Growing up around the moana and of Waikato-Tainui and Ngāti Awa descent, I have a deep passion for the welfare of te taiao, which led me to complete a PhD in fish biology and management.

I have worked in policy and science for Ministry of Fisheries, NIWA, and as an independent science provider. I have worked with and for iwi, stakeholders, community groups and agencies, often navigating and drawing together diverse points of view. Improving the health of ecosystems has always been my core objective, recognising my responsibility to future generations. Being in or on the sea with my children is my favourite place to be.
