Passionate about the ocean, I grew up sailing, fishing and diving in the Hauraki Gulf These experiences drove a long lasting love for the ocean and the life within it. I studied Science at Auckland University and the combination of diving and science led to a working career in the underwater world of Aquariums from Kelly Tarltons in the late 80’s to other large aquariums through Asia Pacific. My family have had a long association with Waiheke going back 26 years as regulars to our typical kiwi bach (which has been in the family since 1948). I strongly believe that the talents and knowledge of Waiheke Marine Project with Ngāti Paoa presents an absolutely unique and special opportunity to be world leading in restoring, protecting and managing Waiheke’s own underwater world.
